Organization Description:
30 th Street Senior Center is a non-profit organization providing wellness programs, social interaction, nutritious meals, educational opportunities, and case management services for over 5,000 of San Francisco’s seniors. Our goal is to foster the well-being of seniors from home to community by connecting them with each other and with culturally sensitive programs to achieve their potential.
Position Description:
We are the largest senior dining room in San Francisco and we serve restaurant style. Dining room volunteers help seniors to enjoy nutritious congregate meals at the center. As we like to say our heroes wear aprons and hairnets; we are looking for volunteers who can help with our three-hour shifts serving lunch to our seniors Monday through Saturday from 11a.m. to 2p.m. The Center is also open on all holidays. Lunch service is served twice; at 12 pm and 1 pm.
We have capacity for small groups (7-10 volunteers). This is a great opportunity for families, groups of friends, employee team building, and a way to give back and do something meaningful for senior citizens in the community.
Qualifications:
We are looking for fun people who can commit once a week, once a month, once a year, on Holidays, or whatever works with your schedule.
You must enjoy interacting with seniors, willing to serve hot food and drinks, clean and set tables, work in a team setting and generally have a good disposition. Must be a minimum of eighteen years of age or accompanied by a guardian.
