Hi there,

Thank you so much for expressing an interest in wanting to volunteer with BAYCAT, we truly appreciate it!

BAYCAT is an exciting nonprofit social enterprise that teaches media arts to youth and young adults. Through our after-school classes in animation, video production and audio production, we teach young people skills that foster personal expression, creative problem solving, and an awareness of media literacy and social justice.

Here are just some of the logistics for our Fall 2014 BAYCAT ACADEMY Free Digital Media classes;

  • Program runs from Monday, 9/8th - Thursday, December 12/4

  • Program is between Monday - Thursday, 4:30 - 6:30pm

    • Monday Wednesday: Advanced Fimmaking & Motion Graphics Music Production

    • Tuesday Thursday: Beginning filmmaking

Here are some of the requirements we ask from our volunteers

  • Volunteers should not miss no more than 4 sessions of program.

  • Some Knowledge of Media Production is preferred (Premiere Pro, DSLR cameras, Pro Tools, Audio recording).

  • An interest in and / or experience with youth mentorship or teaching.

    • Attending field trips/supervising youth on MUNI

    • Administrative duties: taking attendance / setting up surveys

About the classes:

Each class will have a maximum of 10-15 students, and will be lead by an experienced head instructor. As the volunteer, you can help teach lesson plans, learn about classroom workflow and be a positive mentor to our youth.

Though the position is unpaid, we can often provide internship credit through school - if interested, please let us know.

The next step:

  • Send a brief cover letter, resum and link to work samples electronically to edgargarcia@baycat.org
  • Please let us know your availability.

  • What is a good date time for you to come into our studio for an interview in the next 2 weeks?

If this sounds like you’ll be a great fit, lets schedule something and make great videos and music with some awesome kids =)

Thanks!
