:Launch Habitat for Humanity New York City’s new ReStore and build its volunteer capacity! HfH ReStores are non-profit home improvement stores and donation centers that sell new and gently used furniture, home accessories, building materials, and appliances to the public at a fraction of the retail price. Our inaugural ReStore is projected to open in fall/winter 2014. This AmeriCorps VISTA will be integral in building capacity through the creation of processes that will help the affiliate run the ReStore efficiently. The VISTA will develop new partnerships with community partners, corporate in-kind donors, and faith donors to support the overall success of the ReStore. S/He will develop strategic donation plans, donor programs, donor recognition, and in-store volunteer recognition programs. The position will support the coordination and management of volunteers, including the recruitment, orientation, training and retention of volunteers. Benefits: $5500 education grant OR $1500 end of term stipend.

Description

Habitat for Humanity New York City and Westchester County creates, preserves, and advocates for healthy, affordable homes and the generational equity-building opportunities that homeownership provides. With the support of thousands of volunteers each year, we’re building a more equitable New York-to address centuries of unjust, racist housing laws and financing mechanisms that prevented communities of color from entering the homeownership market and shaped the geography of the wealth, health, and education inequality we see today.
