Toxic Free NC aims to improve the health and well being of North Carolina’s people and environment by reducing exposures to toxic chemicals used in agricultural and consumer products. We're seeking a Board Treasurer to provide leadership, financial management expertise and fiscal responsibility to the organization.
As Treasurer, we need a financial expert to:
- Closely monitor the financial health of the organization
- Work with the Executive Director and designated staff to ensure appropriate financial reports are made available to the board on a timely basis
- Work with the Executive Director on annual budget preparation
- Oversee the proper implementation of the annual budget
- Oversee the design and implementation of appropriate bookkeeping and accounting processes and systems
- Review the annual audit and provide explanations/answers to board member questions about the audit
- Sign fiscal forms and instruments as necessary
- Serve as Chair of the Finance Committee
- Attend all board meetings
- Contribute financially to the organization and participate in fund development activity
Qualifications for Treasurer are:
- Ability to analyze financial status of the organization, its systems and controls
- Leadership skill in guiding the organization toward long-term sustainability
- Knowledge and skill in developing accounting systems and internal controls
- Ability to develop methods of maintaining positive cash flow
- Skill in reporting and presenting financial statements
- Budget analysis and preparation skills
- Team leadership capability
- Knowledge of financial reporting requirements to pertinent regulatory agencies

Toxic Free NC (formerly the Pesticide Education Project) is a Raleigh-based nonprofit that has been fighting pesticide pollution in North Carolina since 1986.
