The New York Asian Women’s Center (NYAWC) is the largest Asian American focused domestic violence agency in the country, a premier human trafficking serving organization, and a national demonstration project that provides model services to survivors of sexual assault.

NYAWC's marathon team, Team Phoenix, has spots available for the TCS NYC Marathon in November. Over the past four years, Team Phoenix has raised nearly $150,000 in unrestricted funding which supports critical but underfunded programs, and boosted awareness worldwide for the services we provide to survivors of violence and abuse. As Team Phoenix turns five, we call upon your help to form a team that will represent NYAWC among 50,000 runners and raise crucial support for our programs.

If you want to run or know someone who does, contact Carvey Hor at chor@nyawc.org to sign up for guaranteed entry with complimentary registration fee.

If you are interested in becoming a cheer captain, contact Carvey Hor at chor@nyawc.org.

About Womankind, Rising Above Violence

Location:

42 Broadway, Suite 1836, New York, NY 10004, US

Mission Statement

Womankind uses the multidimensionality of our Asian heritage to work alongside survivors of gender-based violence as they build a path to healing. We are working tirelessly to create a future where we Rise Above Violence and our communities can innovate towards collective well-being, restoration, and social justice.

Description

Womankind brings critical resources and deep cultural competency to help survivors of all ages find refuge, recovery, and renewal from domestic violence, human trafficking, and sexual violence. Through our programs, we offer a wide variety of services in 18+ Asian languages and dialects, including: a toll-free 24/7 multilingual helpline, safe and confidential emergency housing, culturally-informed counseling, family law and immigration legal assistance, wellness activities, creative arts therapy, support groups, and economic empowerment workshops. We are an expert in serving Asian communities, yet our services are valuable and available to all. Whether in our services or in our increasing advocacy and policy work, Womankind first centers the survivor by uplifting them to control their own lives and narratives.
