Honor 9/11 Firefighter Stephen Siller with Delete Blood Cancer at the Tunnel to Towers 5k!

Delete Blood Cancer has joined forces with the Tunnel to Towers Foundation that was formed to honor the sacrifice of firefighter Stephen Siller who laid down his life to save others on September 11, 2001. When Stephen heard about the first plane hitting the Twin Towers, Stephen drove his truck to the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, but it was already closed. So he strapped 60 lbs. of gear to his back, rushed on foot through gridlocked traffic and ran from the Tunnel to the Towers where he gave up his life while saving others.

From 6:00am-9:30am on Sunday, September 28th, Delete Blood Cancer will be at the Tunnel to Towers 5K Race Registration at the Ikea Parking Lot in Red Hook, Brooklyn, registering all those interested in signing up for the National Bone Marrow Registry. Everyone who signs up that day can provide a patient fighting blood cancer, sickle cell anemia or other disease with a second chance at life. As volunteers you will be there to help everyone sign up, swab on and get their chance to save a life!

We need volunteers to help educate the public on the impact of blood cancer and aid in the registration of potentially hundreds of new bone marrow donors. We are hoping to add to the 4 million registrants we have world wide. Help us spread the word and join us in the fight to eradicate blood cancer!
