Held annually in seven cities across the country -- Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, New York City, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Tri-State (New Canaan, CT), Twin Cities, and Washington D.C. -- this family friendly 5K walk/run raises both awareness and funds for multiple myeloma. Since its inception in 2001 in Chicago, the MMRF Team for Cures 5K program has raised more than $21 million to support the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation’s urgent work.
The MMRF is a non-profit organization and our mission is to find a cure for multiple myeloma, a deadly blood cancer. We host 5Ks in 7 different cities throughout the country during the year. The races are a wonderful family-friendly event filled with hope, camaraderie and knowledge sharing among patients, their families and friends, and health professionals. The funds raised at our Team for Cures 5K events are so critical to our mission.
This would be a fun event for you or your group to participate in. We have a variety of volunteer posts we are looking to fill (registration, T-shirt hand out, directions on the race course, and post-race water and banana distribution).

Mission Statement
The MMRF relentlessly pursues innovations to find a cure for all multiple myeloma patients and accelerate the development of precision treatments for cancer.
Description
The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) was established in 1998 by Kathy Giusti, a multiple myeloma patient, and her twin sister Karen Andrews. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the MMRF has created the business model around cancer-from data to analytics to the clinic. The MMRF identifies barriers and then finds the solutions to overcome them, bringing in the best partners and aligning incentives in the industry to drive better outcomes for patients. Since its inception, the organization has collected thousands of samples and tissues, opened nearly 100 trials, helped bring 11 FDA-approved therapies to market, and built CoMMpass, the single largest genomic dataset for any cancer. Today, the MMRF is building on its legacy in genomics and is expanding into immune-oncology, as the combination of these two fields will be critical to making precision medicine possible for all patients. The MMRF has raised nearly $500 million and directs nearly 90% of the total funds to research and related programs.
