The American Diabetes Association is seeking highly motivated skills-based volunteers for the 2016 Skylands Tour de Cure Planning Committee. We will be celebrating the 25th Anniversary of this signature cycling event, so we're looking for cycling enthusiasts as well as professionals who can offer up their talents in the areas of marketing, logistics and event planning.

Volunteer committee members are specifically needed to help with the recruitment of new riders; marketing/PR/social media strategy; day-of logistics including entertainment, food, rest stops, volunteer management, etc.; and route logistics to ensure the safety of all riders on routes ranging from 13 to 100 miles.

The committee meets monthly for one hour; members can also expect to spend approximately 2-3 hours a month executing action items, depending on their role. For more information, please contact Katy Lido at klido@diabetes.org.

Description

Volunteer Power
The moving force behind our work is a network of more than one million volunteers nation wide, including a membership of 430,000 diabetes patients and their families, and a professional society of more than 18,000 physicians, scientists, certified diabetes educators, nurses, dietitians, pharmacists, social workers, and educators.

In addition to our well know fund-raising events, the ADA provides learning sessions and information through a variety of community-based presentations and activities focused on reaching the diagnosed and those at high risk for diabetes. These free presentations include bi-lingual information on the importance of physical activity, making healthy food choices, food portion control and much more. Last year our outreach efforts reached several thousand people in the state of New Jersey alone. We couldn't have done this without the support from volunteers like you. Volunteering is rewarding and you can be assured that you have made a difference in someone's life.
