Su Casa needs teachers for English as a Second Language classes for non-native speakers. Su Casa will provide the curriculum and the pre-test and post-test for the lesson plans for the classes. We use the total physical response (TPR) method for teaching. There is no need to speak Spanish to volunteer for this opportunity, as one of the rules of ESL is only English during class! Classes are taught 99% in English. This is a great opportunity to help our clients adjust to life in the US and learn the language! We will also have orientation and training for future volunteers. The ideal candidates would be professionals or upper level college students, preferably with a background in education, English, or speech pathology. International business, linguistics, or social work backgrounds are also welcome. Retirees and those studying for their TESOL certification encouraged to apply.

Our current ESL volunteers could do one of the following:

1-on-1 tutors (Level 4): Tuesdays, 4-5:30 pm

ESL assistants:Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4-5:30 and 6-7:30, and Saturdays,10 am-12 pm

ESL Instructor (basic): Tuesdays, 4-5:30 pm

Classes will begin the next session the week of September 28, 2015.
