PLACEMENT PURPOSE
Public Affairs volunteers work to inform our communities and individuals of available American Red Cross services. They serve as a Red Cross spokesperson and conduct interviews with the media and clients, document volunteers at work, and write articles or press releases after a Red Cross response. Applicants for this opportunity must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be comfortable working our media partners, and have availability to respond at a variety of hours (on-scene or through phone support). Experience in the field of public relations, communications, or journalism is helpful, but not a requirement.
OPEN TIME DAYS
Attend meetings / conference calls as scheduled.
Serve on-call shift, if applicable.
Handle cases over the phone and on computer from home or ARC office location.
Possibility of deployment on disaster scene.
