PLACEMENT PURPOSE
Disaster Operations Liaison volunteers maintain and develop local relationships with response partner agencies (including government and non-government partners), participate and represent the Red Cross during disaster operations briefings and during local, county, & state disaster table top & full scale exercises involving the Emergency Operations Center or Incident Command, and assist with disseminating information about Red Cross services to local government partners during planning, response, and recovery activities. Candidates must have availability to respond at a variety of hours with own transportation, strong attention to detail and ability to maintain a consistent systems-approach to projects, and knowledge of the American Red Cross mission, disaster services, and activities. Additional skill sets include sensitivity to human diversity and inclusiveness, excellent written and verbal communication skills, being comfortable working in stressful situations, and able to handle multiple tasks and assess incoming information quickly. Knowledge of the Incident Command System (ICS) is recommended.
OPEN TIME DAYS
7-10 hours per month.

REQUIRED TRAININGOrientation to the American Red Cross.
