ORGANIZATION: American Red Cross - Wisconsin Region

PLACEMENT PURPOSE
Logistics volunteers support Red Cross disaster preparedness and responses by working to establish and maintain partnerships with other organizations in the community (ie supply vendors, warehouse partner sites, etc.), track supply movement of disaster response items, review inventory counts for accuracy, and ensure vehicles, trailers, supplies, facilities, and information databases are adequately maintained. Candidates must have availability to respond at a variety of hours with own transportation, strong attention to detail and comfort using computer software, good written and verbal communication skills, and be comfortable working in stressful situations while handling multiple tasks and assessing incoming information quickly. Candidates must also be physically able to lift & carry 50 pounds. A Background in logistics is useful, but not required.

OPEN TIME DAYS

1-2 hours (average) per month.

Varie with current disasters responses.


REQUIRED TRAINING

Orientation to the American Red Cross

Online & Classroom training course list will be provided (approx. 5 hrs of training).

One-on-one mentoring and support from current Disaster Logistics Volunteers.
