Are you a master of peace, meditation, and control ? Join APEX Youth Center in providing a safe place for kids to be themselves through calming yoga instruction. Teach young adults the power of yoga as their positive role model and yogi.
APEX - A lways P ursuing EX cellence - is a non-profit, community-based youth center located in Central City. We offer local youth a safe space to laugh,learn, play and grow; while providing a meal, mentoring, tutoring, community service opportunities, recreation, and other structured activities.
APEX Youth Center is looking for a yogi of any practice. Dates are flexible. Looking for a teacher with patience, passion, and persistence who can convey good behavior through yoga. Share your knowledge, feel empowered.
The process: express interest, complete an application and background check, check-in with the volunteer coordinator via phone interview, attend an orientation, and VOLUNTEER!

Mission Statement
APEX is a community-based youth center that provides a breadth of structured activities to at-risk youth and neighborhood teens to promote and reinforce pro-social behavioral skills and leadership development through our theme of "Reconciliation, Never Retaliation." Looking for someone with expansive creative thinking and enthusiasm, the program intern will have will assist in design and implementation of various programs inspired by the intern and the program director while managing current programs. Under the supervision of the program director, this intern opportunity provides an undergraduate student with a view into the administrative tasks of programming for youth and the application of creative thinking.
Description
The APEX is a different type of community and youth center. We provide not only structured activities, mentoring and tutoring, but will do so within a context of preparing our children to be productive and community-minded adults. Our ultimate objective is to create cycles of creativity and accountability, therefore reducing cycles of poverty, crime, illiteracy and neglect.
We are committed to bringing to the children of New Orleans:
Accountable Programs that have personal and community value based on sound guidelines and curriculum.
Actionable Objectives that enrich the lives of children and teens and prepare them for adulthood through education and mentoring.
Tangible Results through production of products for the community at large, i.e. visual and fine art performances, art shows, websites and newspaper publication.
Sustainable Outcomes by partnering with other community based organizations and creating programs that teach and practice sustainability.
