Bark Avenue Foundation is transporting Wasco shelter animals to safe shelters in other states. SoCal area shelters are jam packed and the euthanasia numbers are staggering. We're saving lives by sending animals to other areas of the country that doen't have the pet overpopulation problem that SoCal has. We can only do this with the help of short term foster parents.
Are you able to foster a small or medium dog for a few days or a few weeks until they go on a transport flight?
You would pick up your foster dog from the Wasco shelter and you would bring your dog to the Meadows Field airport in Bakersfield when it is his/her time to fly. While at your home you would take care of the dog as if he/she were your own - food, water, warm place to sleep, walks, transport to and from the vet if necessary. We cover all expenses and will provide you with the food and supplies that you need.

betterTogether Forever is dedicated to helping pet parents in Los Angeles communities that are under-served and under-resourced access valuable services to help them stay together with the pets they love, and to keep those pets safe, healthy, happy, off the streets, and out of animal shelters.
Description
betterTogether Forever partners with communities and with other nonprofit organizations, understanding that collaboration is critical to its success. BTF prioritizes spay/neuter funding and programs, to stop the pet overpopulation problem at its source: unintended litters. It also supports pet owners, particularly those who are in at-risk and under-served populations (including the homeless), focused on pet retention and reclamation. These services include (1) free and subsidized spay/neuter (2) providing free pet ID tags; (3) offering gently used bedding, collars, leashes and other goods for those in need; and (4) providing pet food and emergency medical care on a case-by-case basis. BTF also promotes humane education through outreach events and unique marketing platforms in Los Angeles and surrounding communities.
