Hollis Community Library is seeking high school/college students, adults and/or retirees to provide 1-on-1 homework assistance to children, grades K - 6 during the afternoon. Volunteers would work with students on daily assignments with an emphasis on helping students to: Organize and review assignments based on level of difficultly and projected time for completion Understand assignment instructions and desired outcomes Start working on selected assignments and provide guidance to students throughout each portion Requirements Volunteers should be prepared to help: Identify daily homework assignments and projects Review assignment instructions with students and ensure that students understand all steps that must be followed to complete assignment Students priortize and determine which assignments that would like to begin during the after-school session. This may be based on time provided and/or difficulty of assignment Start working on assignments Volunteers should also be prepared to answer questions related to a a variety of academic subjects such as Science, Math, and History. Volunteers should be available 2-3 days a week, Monday-Friday afternoon between 3:00pm - 6:00pm.
