After School Matters is looking for friendly volunteers to serve on the Gallery Team during our Annual Gala at Navy Pier's Grand Ballroom!
The role: Gallery volunteers will have a very flexible role at the Gala, serving in a variety of roles throughout the duration of the event, including:
- Cashiering and selling teen artwork
- Wrapping items purchased in the Teen Gallery.
- Preparing items for gallery pick-up after dinner (for guests who do not want to carry their purchases with them during the event).
- Transfering purchased items to the pick-up area.
- Organizing purchases to enhance the efficiency of the pick-up process.
- Distributing purchased items to the appropriate guests.
- Tearing down and moving gallery booths during dinner.
- Assisting with collection of guests’ items at pick-up.
- Helping guests who have purchased large items to their car or taxi after they have completed the check-out and pick-up process.
Shift: Monday, September 22 - 4:30 PM to 9:30 PM
Requirements:
- Must be very outgoing and feel comfortable speaking with staff, teens, and guests.
- Must be flexible, as the Gallery gets very busy and you may be needed to do different tasks at different times.

Description
After School Matters provides Chicago high school teens with high quality, out-of-school time opportunities to explore and develop their talents while gaining critical skills for work, college and beyond. Over the past two decades, more than 200,000 teens have participated in our hands-on, project-based after-school and summer programs in the arts, science, sports, technology and communications. Programs take place at locations throughout the city including Chicago public high schools, Chicago Park District and Chicago Public Library locations, community-based organizations and Downtown at the Gallery 37 Center for the Arts.
