YMCA Reads! is an after-school reading assistance and mentoring program at Bayshore Elementary School, providing opportunities for at-risk and low-income children in kindergarten through third grade to develop the reading skills they need to succeed in school. Volunteer mentors will help children learn to read during two sessions weekly after school from 3:00-5:00 for the school year! A total of 20 volunteers are needed! High school and college students with an interest in education are encouraged to apply! Training will be provided by the Director, Dr. Moira Hendricks.
Volunteers must be at least 16 and they must complete our online volunteer application and pass background checks/fingerprinting.
