Where to Meet: SIA office at 8:00 am if carpooling/convoying OR Brown Canyon Ranch at 9:30 am (directions below)

Wild Duck Pond is a spring-fed wetland on the historic Brown Canyon Ranch property near Sierra Vista. This wetland provides important habitat for migrating birds, threatened bat species, and endangered Chiricahua leopard frogs. Last fall we put down native seeds and installed native plants, while trying to keep a handle on the non-native invasive plants. Just a little more effort on the "weeds," and we will be done. We’ll be removing weeds by hand, and potentially putting in a few more pollinator plants.

Please RSVP to Carianne Campbell at Carianne@skyislandalliance.org or 520-624-0780 ext. 14.

TRIP SCHEDULE
Tuesday: Plan to meet at Brown Canyon Ranch at 9:30am. If you would prefer to caravan with us from Tucson, we will be leaving our offices at around 8:00am and spend a full day on the project. We expect to be back in Tucson by 5:00pm.

THE WORK
This is rated as a moderate event. No hiking is necessary, but participants will be using shovels and bending over to remove invasive plants. Activities include: removing weeds, watering previously-installed plants, and potentially
installing a few additional plants.

Vehicle notes - Passenger cars are able to access the work site without difficulty.

DIRECTIONS FROM TUCSON (1 hr. 30 min.)
Take I-10 east toward El Paso. Look for exit 302 for AZ-90 S (approx. 37 miles east of Tucson). Continue south on AZ-90 toward Fort Huachuca/Sierra Vista
Stay on AZ-90 passing through Sierra Vista (approx. 32 miles) turning right on Ramsey Canyon Road. Keep going on Ramsey Canyon Road until you pass Calle Metate, soon after that there will be a dirt parking area on the right.
