WASART (Washington State Animal Response Team) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit all-volunteer organization that helps companion animals and livestock out of immediate crisis and dangerous situations and we are always looking for new volunteers! Whether you're the adventurous type, an animal sheltering enthusiast, an organizational wizard or great at working with the public, we have a job for you and they all work toward the same goal--saving lives.

Here are just a few of the things that WASART does to help animals and their owners in times of need:

Technical Rescue Team & Field Rescue:

The frontline of an animal-in-danger rescue, this team offers technical rope rescue, animal rigging and safe extraction (for dogs that have done over cliffs, horses stuck in wells or bogs) and there are many roles available to help out in the field.

Sheltering:

We provide emergency animal sheltering and care when disaster strikes, whether it be floods, storms, or the recent wildfires in Eastern WA, giving affected companion animals and livestock safe refuge.

Outreach

Educating the public is a key part of WASART's mission. The Outreach Committee goes to various fairs around western Washington to inform the public about disaster preparation as well as educate them about WASART's services and membership. If you love to talk to the public, either one-on-one or in front of an audience, this might be the role for you.

Committee Membership. Various WASART committees, the engines that drive WASART forward, are always looking for members with new ideas, enthusiasm, and great organizational skills. WASART training is not required to fill one of these positions.

Please be advised that there is a $30 membership fee to cover the background check and ongoing supplies throughout the year.
