September 11 th National Day of Service and Remembranceis the nation’s largest annual day of charitable engagement. The goal of the day is to provide a positive way for all people to forever remember and pay tribute to the 9/11 victims, honor those that rose in service in response to the attacks, and remind people of the importance of working more closely together in peace to improve our world.

On Thursday, September 11, 2014, the NC Museum of Art invites members of the community to join Museum staff and volunteers from 9 am to noon for a work day in the Museum Park. Volunteers will help spread mulch to protect trails and planted areas and weed sections of the Park.

Volunteers should wear appropriate clothing for outdoor tasks and consider the weather. Long sleeves and pants are recommended. Closed-toed shoes are required. You may want to bring along sunscreen, a hat, a water bottle, dress in layers, and perhaps bring your favorite rake or clippers and a pair of work gloves. The Park staff has limited tools and gloves available if you don’t have any, so don’t let a lack of personal tools stop you from volunteering.
