PLACEMENT PURPOSE
Disaster Preparedness Presenters conduct presentations for community groups about the types of disasters that can happen in our area and the steps families can take to be prepared. Presenters may choose to conduct presentations for adults (workplaces, community and civic groups, neighborhood associations, faith-based organizations, etc) or for children (elementary school classes, scout troops, after-school groups). Some presentations are focused on general preparedness while others focus on a more specific topic such as fire safety. If you enjoy teaching adults or children, we would love for you to join our team!
OPEN TIME DAYS
Presentations are approximately typically a half hour to an｠hour in length, plus travel time and time for preparation/study.｠

REQUIRED TRAINING-Successful completion of a new volunteer application process including a background check.
-Excellent public speaking and communication skills.
-Willingness to learn information about disaster risk and disaster preparedness.
-Willingness to operate computer and audio-visual equipment (LCD projector) in delivering presentations (training provided).
