Flamingo Gardens is a 60 acre botanical garden and animal sanctuary. Our botanical garden contains 200 year old Live Oak trees,19 champion trees (largest of their kind in Florida) & exotic rare plants from all over the world. Our animal sanctuary cares for animals & birds that can not make it in the wild and releases their offspring back into the wild. We have a half-acre Free Flight Aviary full of Florida birds. We also have panthers, otters, alligators, bobcats, turtles, tortoises, a 600 lb. black bear and flamingos, of course. And you never know what might fly in.
We are looking for volunteers that can come once a week for 3.5 hours on the same day every week. After orientation, you will be introduced to the area you're interested in for training by our friendly longtime volunteers or staff.
We have openings in our historic Wray Home Museum as a guide, where you can meet friendly people from all over the world or volunteer as a Garden or Animal Guide. We need help in Maintenance. Carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and general repairs. Maybe you would love Gardening or Animal Care. We also need Artists & Woodworkers to create props for Holidays and Special Events.
Flamingo Gardens is a 60 acre peaceful tropical oasis in busy south Florida. Our mission is to preserve all nature in South Florida.
If you are interested in joining us, please email us for an appointment for an interview.
Thank you,
