According to the Marcus Foundation, 148,000,000 people live in food insecurity, and survive on $1.40 per meal, per day. We are developing a mobile community food program which teaches people in food deserts (no fresh produce available within a 10 to 20 mile radius) to grow their own food in 7 Georgia counties, with a high focus on military families of active duty soldiers, who don't make enough money as enlisted persons, and have to augment food with Food Stamps. We know there may be land, small farms or land plots, urban and rural, that are available, sometimes donated to non-profits. We'd like to identify small plots for community gardens, that might be donated for the local residents to create and maintain a garden. We will take our mobile teaching program out to help them maintain it untill they don't need us anymore. We need help identifying ways and means to do this effectively. Someone who knows how to get private, bank donations, or insurance company land donations is preferable.
