Adult volunteers in Southcoast Young Marines help make good kids even better! Volunteers supervise physical fitness activities and classes based on the US Marine Corps model. March in parades, supervise community service initiatives, etc. Drill is held every Tuesday 6-9pm; adult volunteers are asked to attend at least twice a month (for rotation) and one 2.5 day encampment per year. All adult applicants CORI checked and references checked. Current/Prior military service preferred.

The mission of the Southcoast Young Marines is to positively impact America's future by providing quality youth development programs for boys and girls that nurture and develop its members into responsible citizens who enjoy and promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.

Description

Southcoast Young Marines is a youth education and service program that promotes respect, discipline, and a healthy, drug-free lifestyle. The program is open to all youth ages 8 through completion of high school. The only membership requirement is that the youth must be in good standing athome and at school. Youth members, led by adult volunteers, meet every Tuesday from 6pm - 9pm at the community center at Fort Tabor In New Bedford.

Young Marines is the official youth program of the U.S. Marine Corps and the focal point for the Marine Corps Youth Drug Demand Reduction efforts. This program is NOT a recruiting tool for the USMC or any other military branch.
