Beginning January 16, 2015 an international team of athletes will cross the United States on foot with the goal of inspiring a generation to lead active lives. We need an Outreach Coordinator that can contact businesses who might want to support the Race Across the USA with sponsorship and in-kind donations. Given our cause (childhood obesity/fitness) we are confident that many potential sponsors will want to align their products with this event and support our mission. We have already build a sizable list of potential donors along with their contact information. You will be free to find your own sponsors as long as they meet our criteria. This position is virtual and can be done wherever you have a phone and internet connection. You can read more about the sponsorship options we have here.

Our mission is to spark a physical activity revolution across the United States by creating low-cost, family-friendly running and walking events that appeal to all ages, especially today's youth.
Description
We are a mission-driven organization who aims to have large-scale, positive health outcomes in the communities in which we operate. If some path will result in a greater impact in terms of the number of participants and/or the amount of good we do, we will favor this course of action. This includes our events or the amount of money we raise for our charity partner. If forced to choose, we weigh the impact of children higher than adults.
Our organization is volunteer run. While we do pay the Race Director a small stipend to maintain continuity, nearly everyone else is an unpaid volunteer. We seek to create a win-win environment where staff volunteers and interns can learn and grow in skills and experience with a time commitment as little as 2-4 hours/week. We specifically look for folks who want to give back, those who believe in our cause and those that with benefit in other ways outside of monetary compensation. We will write a recommendation letter after 90 days of satisfactory work.
Our events are built around the local community. The name of the event includes the name of the city where it is held, and we hire a local and race director. We partner with local businesses to finance our event. We also partner with a local charity for race-day volunteers and to receive funds raised.
