We have 732k supporters on Facebook Causes, 146k followers on Twitter and thousands on other social platforms for you to communicate to each week. We use Twitter to get relevant, compelling, and inspiring stories that often go unheard broadcast to the world. We are a well-oiled social media team and looking for a Social Media Intern to make us all the more explosive in social & viral marketing.

Assisting Camfed staff, you will work with the Development Officer and Executive Director on various online and social media projects to enhance Camfed's overall presence, demonstrate our transparency and strengthen online communications.

Expect to spend 50% of your time on research, content development, responding to supporters and web and social media metrics and 50% on special projects (for example campaign analyses, new campaign development, researching emerging social media trends and other projects you may initiate etc.)

Qualifications:

  • Concise and personal tone in written communication.
  • Must already be very active on Facebook and Twitter. (Please send us your Twitter @name)
  • Knowledge of a wide variety of social media platforms: Facebook Pages, Causes, Twitter, Pinterest, Flickr, YouTube, etc...!
  • Analytical and creative thinker.
  • Excited to help Camfed build upon their existing engagement strategy Must be a Senior in college or a recent graduate.

Job Summary: Assisting Camfed staff, you will work with the Executive Director and Development Officer on various online and social media projects to enhance Camfed's overall presence, demonstrate our transparency and strengthen online communications.

Duties and Responsibilities: Developing, monitoring and analyzing Camfed's online presence including:

  • Research and develop compelling web content to share via social media platforms
  • Propose strategies for engaging our online communities
  • Work with the Development Officer to compose and edit posts for Camfed's various online platforms
  • Monitor conversations on key online platforms, find appropriate areas for Camfed to contribute, and work with the Development officer to post responses to drive awareness about Camfed and its mission
  • Keep up-to-date communications going with each of our social media groups
  • Find the "Hubs" or "Influencers" in Camfed's verticals and engage them in our cause
  • Support the execution of social media campaigns to keep all groups engaged and drive traffic back to Camfed's properties.
  • Track website traffic and social media metrics weekly
  • Create presentations on campaign analyses, social media ROI, etc.
  • Research new networks and social media sites that may be beneficial to Camfed
  • Research social media trends
  • Keep abreast of best practices in online communications and fundraising

Terms and Conditions

Work 15-20 hours a week for a minimum of 3 months.

Compensation

Unpaid, with a monthly stipend available to cover local travel expenses and lunches.

Description

The Campaign for Female Education (CAMFED) is dedicated to fighting poverty and HIV/AIDS in rural communities in Africa by educating girls. CAMFED began in 1993 by supporting 32 girls in rural Zimbabwe. In 2006, 300,900 children benefited from CAMFED's program of educational support in some of the poorest regions of Zimbabwe, Zambia, Ghana and Tanzania.
