About BCTC at Operation Read

Location:

Carnegie Center, 251 West 2nd Street, Lexington, KY 40507, US

Mission Statement

Our mission here at BCTC at Operation Read is to provide English as a Second Language classes for non-native English speakers.

Description

Because some of our students speak and read fluently, but others need more help, we offer small group classes with five levels (pre-literacy to low advanced) of competency, which meet several times throughout the week. Most of our classes meet during the morning hours, Monday through Thursday, and all currently meet at the Carnegie Center. In order to determine the best class for a student, testing of reading skills is required prior to registration.

All instructors and classroom assistants are volunteers. Training and orientation is provided. All volunteers sign an agreement and undergo a background check prior to service.
