Mission Statement
Our Mission is to help East Africans live healthy, productive lives by providing culturally-appropriate HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment education. We use PUPPETS and teams of local puppeteers to perform funny, entertaining shows that break the silence on this 'taboo' subject and teach life saving medical information at the same time!
Our goal is Zero Stigma, Zero Discrimination, Zero New Infections, Zero AIDS-Related Deaths!
Description
Project HAND UP is a US based 501(c)(3) nonprofit working primarily in Kenya. HAND UP stands for Healthy Africa: A New Directive Using Puppets. We are dedicated to preventing the spread of HIV and improving the quality of life for those living with HIV/AIDS in East Africa. We specialize in developing culturally appropriate and visually entertaining, educational presentations for health education and medical service groups. We present educational, high impact performance based curriculums in English, Swahili and various native languages of East Africa.
By also writing, producing, and distributing specialized health 'curriculum kits' we also enable schools, churches, nonprofit & medical organizations to use the art of puppetry to address challenging medical and social problems in an effective, memorable, non-threatening way.
