Volunteers Urgently Needed - Flood Response, Colorado Rebuild

All Hands Volunteers is looking for volunteers to assist in the rebuild and recovery efforts underway following the impact of flooding last year in Colorado.

In mid-September 2013, over 200 miles of north-central Colorado were under water in some capacity. The long-predicted 100-year flood had finally arrived. Days of rain in the mountains caused rivers to swell to heights not seen in decades, and rushing water cut new paths down the mountains, flooding 17 counties east of the Rockies. All Hands was on the ground within days to assist with the immediate response efforts.

All Hands' Project Colorado: Rebuild has been in operation since June 1, 2014. We are partnering with Habitat For Humanity to share our skills in recovery and rebuild and assist in building their capacity to deploy greater numbers of volunteers and help more families. Right now our organisation and volunteers are actively engaged in helping homeowners rebuild their homes that were damaged by the flood. Our scope of work currently includes light framing, subfloors, insulation, drywall, hanging doors, installing casing and baseboard, and some cabinet installations.

On Saturday, September 13th we broke ground on a NEW CONSTRUCTION home in Lyons for a family whose house was washed away in the 2013 flood. Our goal is to get them back into their home by the end of the year! Will you help?

Our opportunities are open to both foreign and local volunteers who will participate in these rebuilding and recovery efforts in Longmont, CO and the surrounding areas. Longmont is approximately 36 miles north of Denver and 15 miles northeast of Boulder.
