Mustangs to the Rescue

Would you like to help an equine rescue, Mustangs to the Rescue, build success for the long term?

If you want to learn to write grants, this is a great way to build an area of expertise that is always in demand.... if you already have grant writing skills, you can use them to benefit unwanted, abandoned and/or abused horses by helping MTTR get funds to pay for their medical and survical needs.

The Grantwriting Committee for Mustangs to the Rescue is is responsible for exploring grant opportunities, examining the applicability of particular grants, gathering supporting documentation and completing grant applications.

On this committee you can choose from the following areas needing help:

1. doing intenet searches to find sources of funding that match MTTRs profile

2. creating and updating a to-do list that will chart of funding sources with information on due dates for applications

3. keeping a file of grant applications and questionnaires from past grant applications

4. recording and filing information that can be cut and pasted into future grant applications

5. interfacing with MTTR board, volunteers and adopters/fosters to gather verbal or written comments and testimonials about MTTR's value to the community

6. having fun learning a valuble skill of grant seeking at no cost/no classes to attend

7. having fun learning the ropes of how a start-up not-for-profit works

8. building friendships and enjoying the option of working directly with the horses

9. having the satisfaction of doing something important for the community

10. grooming yourself for future board service or a job grant writing

Description

About Mustangs to the Rescue

Each year, over 100,000 horses are trucked over our borders to be slaughtered. Slaughter is a brutal and terrifying end for horses. Horses are shipped in overcrowded trucks, for over 24 hours at a time - without food, water, or rest. They are often seriously injured or die in transit.

The unwanted horse. The abused horse. The neglected horse. The horse whose loving owner had died and didn’t have an after plan. The horse whose owner suffered financial hardship. These are the horses we help.

The mission of Mustangs To The Rescue, an all-breed, all-volunteer, 501c3 non-profit equine rescue, is to positively impact the community we serve by supporting horses, their owners and potential owners, with assistance, resources and educational opportunities, thus improving the lives of horses and humans in our community.

Mustangs to the Rescue was founded by Kate Beardsley. As a professional horse trainer, riding instructor, wrangler and program director, Kate has numerous years of experience working in veterinarian clinics and served as board member with several equestrian groups including Oregon Equestrian Trails, Back Country Horsemen of Oregon and Central Oregon Wild Horse Coalition among others. Privately funded by herself and special donors in the past, the rescue incorporated officially as Mustangs to the Rescue in 2012 and became an official 501c3 in June of 2014.
