Loudoun Literacy Council will be having a Fall 2014 two-day training session for volunteers interested in teaching a class or tutoring one-on-one on Saturday, September 13th and Saturday, September 20th. Our program serves adults learning English as another language and adults who need to improve their basic literacy skills, such as reading and writing. Our program also serves adults wishing to obtain their GED. The training will cover topics that include teaching adult learners, lesson planning, using resources, and cultural awareness.
There is a fee to cover the cost of materials and lunch.
Please email Claudia Wood, Adult Literacy Program Director, at cwood@loudounliteracy.org or call 703-777-2205 for more information or to register.

Mission Statement
Loudoun Literacy Council improves English literacy skills for adults, children and families who live or work in Loudoun County
Description
The Loudoun Literacy Council is a community-based, nonprofit, educational organization dedicated to improving literacy throughout Loudoun County. We recruit and train volunteers to teach adults, both native-speakers and speakers of other languages, to read, speak, write, and understand English. For children, we provide early literacy enrichment for at-risk preschool children and children who reside in our local homeless shelters, while supporting their parents as their child's first teacher. Our classes and programs are available to all who reside or work in Loudoun County.
