ORGANIZATION: Human Health Project

The purpose of the Human Health Project (HHP) is to get health information and peer-to-peer support from the HHP community around the world in response to Health Experience that are posted. An HHP member creates a health experience or topic on HHP’s website at www.HumanHealthProject.Org. This will keep all the information about this person's health topic in one place for his/her review, as well as for people who will be sharing information and providing or receiving support. Generally, information and support will be provided by members of the public who want to help people anonymously who have health conditions and questions. Our goal is to improve access, self-management, equity, and affordability of health care throughout the world. The Assistant System Administrator of the Human health Project (HHP) reports to HHP’s System Administrator and is responsible for designing, and maintaining the environment of the software, servers and networking systems that power HHP’s websites and IT systems. Day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring and administration of HHP’s operating systems and custom software, managing security and access to HHP’s systems. HHP encourages creative problem solving and a team-oriented approach to challenges. At HHP, we have a passion for excellence in service to our users and to each other. Essential Functions: Assist with management and maintenance the HHP's computing, networking, and storage systems consisting of several virtual private servers, several websites, networking arrangements, security, and back-up and restore capabilities. Develop and deploy scripts and programs to automate common system administration tasks, such as backups, user accounts, and establishing Email accounts for new HHP volunteers. Assist in analyzing hardware and software configuration requirements; implement chosen systems as needed to meet HHP’s requirements. Participate in feasibility studies and technical evaluations of software and hardware strategies, especially relating to delivery of new services and systems to HHP’s users. Maintain system integrity via appropriate file integrity management system, log management, configuration management, and critical patch management. Responsible for proactively monitoring system performance and capacity monitoring and planning Documentation of system processes, policies and procedures. Other tasks as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Expert knowledge of server operating systems (Linux). Expert knowledge of system scripting tasks in BASH shell, Python, or Ruby Expert knowledge of virtualization technology such as VirtualBox, VMware, Xen, or KVM. Expert knowledge of server monitoring such as Nagios, Zabbix, Cacti, Zenoss. Expert knowledge and troubleshooting skills with TCP/IP service protocols, including but not limited to DNS, HTTP, SMTP Working knowledge of Windows Server operating systems including group policy management. Working knowledge of LDAP or Active Directory systems Working knowledge of programming languages such as Python, Ruby, and PHP. Superior verbal and written communication, documentation, and teamwork skills. Must possess a genuine desire to provide superior customer service to our students, and internal staff. Must be self motivated and results driven.
