Want to experience a marathon, but don't want to run 26.2 miles?
Come help the Organization for Autism Research (OAR) at the 2014 Bank of America Chicago Marathon on Sunday, Oct. 12. Volunteers will help OAR staff man the Charity Village tent, check in RUN FOR AUTISM team members when they finish their race, hand out OAR medals, take pictures, help with food/water, and other tasks as necessary. We're looking for volunteers between 9 AM and 3 PM. Volunteers can choose 2-3 hour shifts and receive a free RUN FOR AUTISM t-shirt. Community service letters can also be provided for school credit. If you are interested, please e-mail Katie at kginda@researchautism.org. To learn more about the Organization for Autism Research, please visit www.researchautism.org.

Mission Statement
The Organization for Autism Research (OAR) is a national nonprofit organization formed and led by relatives of children and adults with autism and Asperger Syndrome. OAR's mission is to put appied research to work providing answers to questions that parents, families, individuals with autism, teachers and caregivers confront every day. OAR accomplishes this by funding research studies designed to investigate treatments, educational approaches, and statistical aspects of the autism community. No other autism organization has this singular focus.
Description
OAR's work addresses those issues that individuals with autism, their families, caregivers, and teachers encounter each day. Wherever possible, OAR makes its information and resources available to parents and educators at no cost. But we need the help of both generous donors and caring volunteers to cintinue this mission. From event hosting and planning, to spreading the word about OAR to the autism community, a broad range of opportunities exist for those who wish to help in this important work.
