ORGANIZATION: The Boulevard: The Road to Health and Home

We need committee members to help us advance our work among the ill/injured homeless population of Chicago!

What You Can Do:

Be part of our Gala Benefit Committee and help plan the event logistics, or recruit sponsors, donors and friends to support this valuable event! If you have contacts in the hospitality, entertainment, travel, dining/beverage industry or in the local media: you could be a wonderful addition to this committee. Occasional phone meetings in Fall 2014. Twice-monthly phone or in-person meetings January-June 2015.

What We Do: If you are homeless, what happens when you are injured or diagnosed with cancer, diabetes, or heart disease? Interfaith House serves over 300 homeless adults annually, helping them recover from physical injury, illness, addiction or mental health issues. After they recover, we assist Residents in finding safe housing and building a stable life: our goal is to help every client leave the homeless experience, hopefully forever. IFH is the only medical respite facility for homeless individuals in all of Illinois.

Description

The Boulevard is a medical respite program designed specifically to address the challenges faced by homeless adults often discharged from hospitals with no place to recuperate. We aid these individuals in completing their medical recovery and stabilization, begin to address the root causes of their homelessness, and find stable housing.
