Great March for Climate Action - Rally

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Iowa Oxfam Action Corps

We are looking for 10 volunteers on August 11th from 5:30-7:30pm at the Great March for Climate Action - Procession and Rally.

Oxfam America is asking Kellogg (yep, the cereal company) to cut their greenhouse gas emissions because they harm our food and farmers. We need your help collecting petition signatures at the Climate March rally.

Details about the rally here: http://climatemarch.org/events/iowa/81114-2/

Petition found here: www.behindthebrands.org/actnow

We will meet at the DM Sculpture Park by the sculpture of the person made of letters (on Locust St) at 5:30. We will have a quick intro into Oxfam and the petition, hand out oxfam t-shirts or stickers, followed by a flurry of canvassing (asking people to sign the petition) the like minded people gathering for the procession and rally.

If possible, we will walk together in the procession up to the capital and listen to the speakers.

Description

When you volunteer with the Oxfam Action Corps, you take actions like holding a house party or collecting signatures at a concert. You could lead a delegation to a lawmaker's local office, organize a petition drive, or plan an Oxfam America Hunger Banquet. Anyone is welcome to volunteer, regardless of age or experience level--all you need is a willingness to make a difference. Volunteers receive continuing support from Oxfam, including campaign materials, strategy tips, and advice on community organizing. Each city has two trained volunteer corps organizers who welcome and orient volunteers throughout the year.
