What is the Mobile Food Bank?

Emergency Food Network has teamed up with FISH Food Banks of Pierce County to bring food to people in need in underserved communities. Visitors to the Mobile Food Bank use a small shopping cart along the center aisle of the trailer to select food from the shelves on either side.

Where and when is the Mobile Food Bank?

We currently have 2 volunteer openings at the Star Center location on Tuesdays from 1:00 - 3:00 pm. This is a great opportunity to lend a hand once or twice or a month for two hours!

What are the volunteer roles and qualifications?

A group of 4-6 volunteers help check clients in and assist clients with selecting and bagging food. A member of FISH's staff is on-site at all times. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Registration is required.

About Emergency Food Network

Location:

3318 92nd Street South, Lakewood, WA 98499, US

Mission Statement

The mission of Emergency Food Network is "to provide Pierce County with a consistent, diverse and nutritious food supply so that no person goes hungry."

Description

"Currently, 1 in 10 people in Pierce County face food insecurity, and this need is continuing to rise. Through our 75+ Partner Programs (food pantries, meal sites, and shelters) all over Pierce County, EFN distributed over 14 million pounds of food in 2023 to our neighbors in need, including fresh produce grown at EFN’s Mother Earth Farm. This work was made possible by our 2,000+ volunteers, who worked over 12,000 hours in 2023. Volunteer work is vital in helping EFN pursue our mission of ensuring no person goes hungry. Volunteer opportunities include the Repack Project, Home Delivery, EFN’s Mother Earth Farm, and special events throughout the year. We hope you will join us!"
