Volunteers Needed - Annual Evening of Goodwill

Enthusiastic and dedicated individuals are needed to help with our 14 th Annual Evening of Goodwill! We are seeking individuals or groups who support Goodwill’s mission to Put People to Work! The evening’s casual country western theme will entertain more than 500 guests with live music, western games and a complete barbeque dinner. Come and support Goodwill’s mission and help us in delivering workforce development training and solutions within the state.

When

Saturday, October 11, 2014 - 5:30pm - 9:00pm

Dress Code

Volunteer Shirt, denim pants or skirt, western accessories and sundresses are all acceptable. This is an outdoor event with a gravel ground covering. We encourage you to wear closed-toe and comfortable shoes.

Time Commitment

1 hour - orientation - TBD (September 23 rd, 24 th, or 25 th) - 5:30pm - 6:30pm

5 hours - day of the event - 4:00pm - 9:00pm

Volunteer Opportunities

  • Photographer Assistants

    • Greet guests who come to a photography station to have a commemorative photo taken

    • Assist in wardrobe selection and getting guests dressed for pictures (if guests desire)

    • Run digital memory card to print station and assist with printing of pictures

    • Put pictures in photo sleeves and display on table provided

    • Close, pack and clean up photography stations, place items in designated area for transport

  • Guest Registration

    • Verify name on guest list and/or check off in computer

    • Ensure each guest that checks in is provided a name badge and other materials, if any

    • Troubleshoot issues, i.e., guest substitutes, guests wanting to pay etc.

    • Ensure guest flow is moving steadily and into the event as soon as possible

    • Close, pack and clean up registration, place items in designated area for transport

    • Assist guests with their Silent Auction items

    • After registration is closed, assist with Silent Auction (See Silent Auction duties)

  • Raffles

    • Set up raffle items - 2 stationary raffle stations and 2 groups roving

    • Sell raffle tickets to guests throughout the venue

    • Transport raffle items to check out for guests who have won

    • Close, pack and clean up raffle stations, place items in designated area for transport

  • Silent Auction

    • Customer service at one of four silent auction stations

    • Encourage and assist guests to bid on silent auction items

    • Explain silent auction items

    • Remove and organize silent auction items for check out

    • Remove and organize dcor and take down stations

    • Group items together by guest number for check out

    • Close, pack and clean up silent auction stations, place items in designated area for transport

Volunteer Training

  • To maximize the volunteer experience and ensure that our guests enjoy a professionally executed event, we do ask that all volunteers attend an orientation to better understand our mission and your roles played in the event.
