Help an older adult learn to use an iPad or tablet--your choice of weekday and time M-F, during the hours of 8:30-4:30. This is an Ongoing Opportunity, meeting with Learners for an hour each week.
Generations on Line has provided an online tutorial with step-by-step instructions for "Sip and Swipe" sessions targeting people over 60 who have never before used a computer or tablet. Coaching is fun and requires only amateur skills on the iPad. Your job as Coach is to guide, trouble shoot, and motivate. All the teaching elements are on the screen and a support kit is available to you as coach, including suggested session guides.
Don't have an iPad? Sip and Swipe provides one for you and one for each Learner to use.
Requirements:
- Basic iPad skills
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Readiness for a fun and rewarding volunteer experience!

For nearly 45 years, Surrey has connected people and resources, creating a vibrant community of older adults. We offer programs and services that help older adults remain safe and engaged in our community including:
- Activities, exercise, clubs, lunch, and lectures at any Surrey center - Bryn Mawr, Broomall, Devon, or Media
- Nutritious meals available in-person or Grab and Go Monday-Friday at Devon, Broomall, and Media
- Transportation services, fee-based and free, provided by volunteers, Surrey Drivers and through partnerships with Chester County Community Transit (Chester County) and DELGO Community Transit (Delaware County)
- Home care services including RN Care Management for help with medication management and care; personal care for help bathing and dressing; and Personal Finance Management for help with bills, insurance claims, and long-term care policies.
- Opportunities to downsize and consign with the Surrey Consignment Shop.
- Free instruction, support, and hands-on training for family caregivers and aspiring caregivers at The Surrey Academy.
