Are you available to work 8-10 hours each week next semester? This internship is a great way to sharpen your teaching, program management, and communication skills while helping those in need. Interns are responsible for the success of our Skills in Computers and Literacy for Employment (SCALE) programs, which provide one-to-one tutoring for adult learners building basic writing, reading, computer literacy and employability skills. Lessons offer direct instruction in literacy, computers and ongoing development of a career portfolio. We are looking for 3 interns for our fall semester, which runs September 9-December 18. Each intern oversees lesson planning and tutor/student coordination for one of these sessions (please indicate which session you are applying for in your cover letter):
- Tuesday nights, 5:30-7:30pm at Hawthorne Library (2707 E. Washington Ave.)
- Wednesday mornings, 10:00am-12:00pm at Goodman South Library (2222 S. Park St.)
- Thursday nights, 6:00-8:00pm at Literacy Network (1118 S. Park St.)
We are now accepting applications for the fall semester; deadline to apply is noon August 15.
Successful interns receive $500 as well as a letter of recommendation from Literacy Network. Click here for a full position description and instructions for applying.More opportunities with Literacy Network
