We are looking for volunteer mentors for our Take Action program. Mentors will assist middle school students in a group, with their service projects, after school during workshop sessions and attend the recognition/culmination event. You must attend 1 hour a week, for 12 weeks.
Mentoring middle school students in our Take Action program is fun, fulfilling, a great fieldwork opportunity for college students and an excellent service and mentoring opportunity for volunteers.

SOSMentor’s mission is to decrease the alarming rates of childhood obesity and related illnesses by educating underserved youth in health, nutrition and fitness and by motivating them to adopt a healthier lifestyle.
Description
SOSMentor is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, established in 2000, that strives to improve the health and quality of life of underserved youth in the greater Los Angeles area through mentoring programs and educational support.
Our current focus is addressing the alarming rates of childhood obesity and related illness that are prevalent in low-income communities. Through a series of workshops on proper nutrition and physical fitness, students learn how to redefine their eating habits and make good food choices as well as how to incorporate fitness into their everyday lives.
