Friends of Occupy Portland (FOOP), a Portland-based civic and social welfare organization established in 2012 by people of Occupy Portland to continue their work, is conducting a series of community outreach activities at local neighborhood and street festivals this summer.
Sunday, July 27, we have an exhibitor space at Lents Street Fair in Southeast Portland from 1 to 8 p.m.
Staffing requirement:
- Set-up: Noon-1:30 p.m (3 people)
- Booth-sitters, three shifts, 2 hours each: 1-3, 3-5, 5-7, and 7-8 (at least 1 per shift)
- Closing and clean-up: 7:30 pm-8:30 pm (3 people)
Booth-sitters generally greet festival-goers in a friendly manner, answer any questions, and take contact information and donations as needed. No experience is necessary, though some familiarity with our organization is probably important. You must be able to conduct yourself in a friendly, fair and professional manner and create an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere. This is not a platform for airing your opinions, or for engaging in debates with visitors. It is expected that booth-sitters provide factual information, not opinions. Any aggressive or hostile behavior towards any person for any reason will not be tolerated.
If you have a mobile computing device or laptop with portable wireless Internet (WiMAX) connection, please bring it with you as it will become very handy when you offer information to visitors regarding upcoming events or activities (you will be solely responsible for safeguarding it; we are not responsible for any damage or theft).
