An outgrowth of Occupy Portland, Portland Free Store is one of the most successful and popular community initiatives we support since 2012. The Free Store has received various media coverage, including The New York Times. There is a free store event, more or less once a month, at varied locations throughout Multnomah County. Each event requires volunteers for transportation, set-up, item sorting (pre-event and throughout event), clean-up and generally managing the event. The next events will be on: Saturday, July 26 - Northeast Portland (Sabin) at Community Supported Everything August (date/time TBA) - Northeast Portland (Concordia) at Faubion Elementary School The July 26 event is in urgent need of a driver (with a van or pick-up truck). Volunteers are also needed between events to coordinate siting, scheduling, coordination and publicity. Actual volunteer location varies by event and/or by task. Drivers must carry their own insurance and valid license and vehicle registration, and must indemnify event organizers, event venues and the Friends of Occupy Portland against any and all claims arising from, and related to, the use of their motor vehicles.
