St. Louis County Parks invites local and national history lovers to volunteer at the Powder Magazine Museum and Old Ordnance Room located in Jefferson Barracks County Park in South St. Louis County as Museum Attendants.
Museum Attendants welcome visitors and answer questions about the two museums during low-key, two-person shifts during Wednesdays -Sundays from 12-4pm. Current volunteers enjoy the company of colleagues including history buffs, retirees, veterans, and those with a desire to preserve the past for future generations. The position also provides volunteer training and appreciation events year round.
An information session will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 10:30am at the JB Visitor Center, 345 North Road, St. Louis, MO 63125, followed by optional tours of the Powder Magazine Museum and Old Ordnance Room. Advanced registration is required. Registrants are encouraged to attend a JB volunteer training session for current volunteers at 9am before the information session, also located at the JB Visitor Center. Coffee and donuts will be provided for all attendees beginning at 8:30am.
The Old Ordnance Room is located at 346 Bagby Street, St. Louis, MO 63125, and the Powder Magazine Museum is located at 400 Bagby Street, St. Louis, MO 63125.
Easiest access to Jefferson Barracks County Park is from the newly refurbished North Gate Entrance, located just south of where Kingston Drive meets South Broadway.
