Mission Statement

iCouldBe’s mission is to provide high school students with an online community of professional mentors, empowering teens to thrive in school, plan for future careers, and achieve in life.

Description

iCouldBe believes our mentees are strong, amazing and ready to succeed and that developing critical relationship-building skills and engaging new networks will expand opportunities for academic and career success.

iCouldBe’s asynchronous online program is embedded in high school classrooms once per week for an academic year. Mentees drive conversations with their mentors through interactive activities and themed quests focused on academic success, post-secondary education, exploring future careers and developing webs of support. Each pair is guided through structured activities to help mentees identify challenges, brainstorm solutions, practice LinkedIn style networking with multiple iCouldBe mentors and build a custom network of teachers, counselors, peers, coaches, family and community members.

For twenty-two years the iCouldBe virtual mentoring program has recruited, managed, and supported more than 10,000 volunteer mentors to serve over 25,000 students attending schools where 75%+ of the student population received federal free and reduced lunch benefits. iCouldBe mentors volunteer for at least one school year and spend one hour per week working with students on our private, safe and secure virtual mentoring platform.
