Mission Statement
Community L.I.F.T. revitalizes neighborhoods through strategic investments in the areas of human capacity-building and economic and community development that result in sustainable thriving communities. Community L.I.F.T., Corp also known as LIFT (Leveraging Investments For Transformation), emerged out of a citywide planning process called Greater Memphis Neighborhoods (GMN). Our goals are to:
- revitalize distressed neighborhoods
- build human capacity
- improve economic conditions
- improve the quality of life.
Description
LIFT was created on November 10, 2010, as a local community development intermediary to fill the void of scaled, comprehensive neighborhood redevelopment. LIFT acts as a clearinghouse that aggressively pursues sources of financial, human and intellectual capital. LIFT has an affiliate "emerging" Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), or non-traditional bank, River City Capital Investment Corporation (River City).
Community LIFT was developed by The Greater Memphis Partnership (GMP)--consisting of the Community Foundation of Greater Memphis, The Assisi Foundation, CD Council and local community development leaders, National Bank of America Foundation, and the City of Memphis Division of Housing and Community Development.
