ORGANIZATION: The Salvation Army San Diego Regional Office

Position Title: Bilingual English-Spanish speaking Vacation Bible School Assistant

Reports to: Lts. Dave and Dawn preston


Purpose/Goal of Position: To conduct outreach to the Spanish-speaking community in the Oceanside area; to assist The Salvation Army Oceanside Corps in providing a safe and fun vacation bible school enviornment, and promote spiritual growth

Qualifications/Skills/Certifications Needed:

1. BILINGUAL ENGLISH & SPANISH required

2. Prior experience working with youth in an academic or recreational setting preferred

3. Must be creative, have a positive attitude, and be enthusiastic about working with school-age children

Duties/Responsibilities:

1. Conduct outreach to Spanish-speaking families via phone to inform about vacation bible school programming and encourage participation

2.Translate documents from English to Spanish and create promotional materials to recruit additional youth from the local community

3. Decorate youth programming areas to create an exciting recreational and learning environment for youth

4. Supervise children, with first priority in their safety, at all times following The Salvation Army's child safety policies.

5. Plan and create curriculum for programming, as needed

6. Solicit donations for program supplies, as needed
