Texas Rural Water Foundation (TRWF) is seeking a highly self-motivated, flexible and detail oriented individual to join our Foundation Development Team in Austin, Texas.

VISTA: This is a full-time AmeriCorps VISTA member position. VISTA stands for Volunteer in Service to America. VISTA’s mission is to serve American communities in order to eliminate poverty in those communities. The selected candidate must make final application through VISTA’s web portal and will commit to one year of service. VISTAs receive a biweekly cost of living stipend of $410 and donate their work time. TRWF provides a $100 housing supplement. Other benefits include major medical coverage and child care assistance if eligible, an education award or end-of-service award after completing their one-year service term, and relocation assistance if eligible. All AmeriCorps VISTA members must attend a pre-service orientation prior to enrolling.

Description: TRWF’s mission is to support and empower rural water and wastewater utilities and the poor communities they serve by developing innovative, collaborative programs that provide resources and build the capacity of utilities. TRWF is a supporting organization to the Texas Rural Water Association (TRWA) and is a non-profit under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. TRWF’s VISTA program includes three projects with two members each. In Project 1, VISTAs will develop new research and education programs; and launch fundraising and marketing to support these programs. In Project 2, VISTAs will coordinate a new program to train and assist veterans in securing a job with rural water and wastewater utilities; and will develop new projects to 1) advocate careers in the water and wastewater industry to veterans, high school and college students; and 2) promote better pay and professional recognition for rural water operators. In Project 3, VISTAs will develop training materials and manuals for instructor-led classes and online self-directed education for rural water and wastewater system staff.

The Foundation Development team consists of two VISTA volunteers, (Project 1). The team's goals are to support the organizational development of the Foundation and its current programs while also developing new, sustainable programs that work towards the Foundation's additional goals. These goals include to support rural water systems, to address conservation and water quality and quantity issues, to assist rural utilities to engage and educate their communities, and to improve the living conditions related to water and wastewater in poor communities of Texas. Although serving rural utilities throughout the state, this position is based in Austin, Texas at TRWA's office but also may travel onsite to public water systems throughout Texas. The position is full time in an office environment sharing space with a team member, and involves working with industry professionals.

Duties:

• Program Development - Develop and implement conservation program and other program goals by identifying potential ideas/opportunities, creating action plans & pursuing partnerships, funding

• Marketing - Develop and implement a marketing plan to build recognition through printed materials, online content & other communication components to successfully market to potential donors, partners & target communities.

• Fundraising - Research & actively pursue fundraising efforts, including grants, revenue building projects, & participation in fundraising events.

• Partnership Building - Identify & contact potential program partners, including nonprofits, universities, agencies, research institutions & high schools/technical schools. Maintain relationships with current partners.

• Organizational Development - Maintain accurate, complete documentation of progress. Implement a Monitoring & Evaluation plan. Evaluate progress toward goals & objectives; report findings.
