The Stroke Walk is Sept. 10 2016 at Theis Park in Kansas City, MO. We can use volunteers throughout the morning for set up, traffic direction, registration, breakfast, balloons, etc. etc. We also have opportunities the evening before for people interested in setting up. Everyone who has ever volunteered has had a great time in support of this great cause.

About American Stroke Foundation
Location:
5916 Dearborn, Mission, KS 66202, US
Mission Statement
Most people assume stroke only happens to the elderly or individuals with hypertension. That is not always true.
The American Stroke Foundation does not duplicate existing services - but compliments them. We provide the missing link in the nurturing of stroke survivors ... and those who care for them. In a warm, hopeful environment, stroke survivors apply and practice skills to overcome their disabilities and get on with their lives. Think of us as a "safe haven" where the focus is on the future. And it works.
Description
Stroke is the number on cause of adult disability and the 3rd leading cause of death in the US. Although stroke affects people of all ages, genders and races people over 55, males and African-Americans are at higher risk for stroke. Controllable risk factors include obesity, smoking, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and heart disease. By seeing a doctor regularly and following their instructions you can control these risk factors.
