About The Nature Conservancy in Maryland & DC

Location:

5410 Grosvenor Lane, Suite 100, Bethesda, MD 20814, US

Mission Statement

The mission of The Nature Conservancy is to preserve plants, animals and natural communities that represent the diversity of life on Earth by protecting the lands and waters they need to survive.

Description

In Maryland, we own and manage 30 nature preserves totaling more than 14,000 acres which provide habitat for many rare plants and animals. We have helped partners protect 25,000 more acres of ecologically significant land throughout the state. We manage these lands with the help of volunteer stewards. Some live near a preserve and monitor it over the years; others join us for one-day projects such as trail building, boardwalk construction, trash cleanup, habitat restoration, and rare plant monitoring.
