Mission Statement

CareBOX Program provides free at-home care supplies to cancer patients in need in the Central Texas area.

Description

Affect Change, Inc. dba CareBOX Program is an Austin-based nonprofit providing free at-home care supplies to cancer patients in need in Central Texas. CareBOX Program was designed to help alleviate the financial burden and improve the quality of life for cancer patients. The program is currently piloting in Central Texas, with a goal of serving cancer patients nationwide. In 2017, CareBOX Program aims to deliver 720 CareBOXes. Cancer patients participating in the CareBOX Program create customizable wish lists of needed at-home care supplies from a set product list, based on their needs. This list includes items such as walkers, lotions, nutritional supplements, and heating pads.

CareBOX Program is open to patients impacted by all types of cancer. We work directly with referral sources (social workers, nurses, and oncologists) from local cancer centers (Austin Cancer Center, Texas Oncology, and Dell Children's Hospital) to ensure that all applicants have a cancer diagnosis and meeting their needs would not be a duplication of services from what their insurance or another resource covers.
